A general contractor building a 140-acre advanced manufacturing site in the Southwest brought us in for one thing: perimeter security fencing.
Nine thousand two hundred linear feet of chain link with privacy screen, six vehicle gates, four personnel gates, installed ahead of the first equipment delivery.
That was the whole scope. Then the project manager walked the site with us.
He was eighteen months out from turnover with 1,800 craft workers at peak, and he was carrying the general conditions package himself. Temporary power out to bid with one vendor. A dining structure with another, its flooring, lighting, and climate control sitting as three more line items with three more suppliers. Sanitation split between a portable restroom company and a trailer rental company. Traffic control through somebody else. A guard service on a separate contract, with the screening equipment they wanted him to buy outright. A medical staffing agency he had called twice and not heard back from. Signage quoted by a print shop that had never been on a jobsite. Tables, chairs, and the audio-visual package for shift briefings had not been sourced at all, because nobody owned it.
Ten scopes. Ten bid packages, ten insurance certificates, ten schedules to sequence, ten numbers to call when something showed up late or showed up wrong. He estimated the coordination alone at three to four days a week of his own time and his superintendent’s.

One hundred sixty-five portable restroom units with hand-wash stations distributed across the craft footprint on a three-times-weekly service schedule, plus four climate-controlled, ADA-compliant restroom trailers at the office trailer complex.
Security, 24 hours a day.
Licensed officers posted continuously across the eighteen-month build, working from staffed guard shacks at three vehicle gates and the main craft entry. Walk-through metal detection and hand-held screening at the craft entry, plus vehicle inspection at the delivery gate. Access logs, badge verification, and incident reporting delivered to the contractor's safety lead every shift.
On-site emergency medical.
EMTs on station whenever craft crews were working, including night shifts and weekend pours. First-response coverage inside the fence line, with triage, treatment, documentation, and coordinated transfer when a case needed to leave the site. Response times measured in seconds instead of the twelve to twenty minutes an off-site ambulance would take to clear the gate.
Custom sign production.
Wayfinding, safety, regulatory, and zone-control signage designed, fabricated, and installed in-house. Better than four hundred signs across the site, updated in place as haul routes shifted and phases turned over. No print shop lead times, no waiting on a gate sign to open a road.
Traffic control.
Barricades, delineators, and signage along the public roadway surrounding the facility, maintained through every phase change and haul-route revision.
Perimeter security fencing.
